Inasmuch Foundation announces over $6 million in grants
Grants awarded to 32 organizations.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Inasmuch Foundation announced today the distribution of $6.04 million in grants to 32 organizations serving Oklahoma.
Inasmuch Foundation, founded by Edith Kinney Gaylord in 1982, supports education, health and human services and community enhancement initiatives that enrich the quality of life for Oklahomans.

Grants were awarded to organizations for projects addressing the foundation’s areas of interest as follows:
Education
$1,600,000 to Teach For America – Oklahoma for general support, including teacher preparation through an intensive residential summer institute.
$1,000,000 to Oklahoma City University to move the Law School from its current location to the historic former Central High School building downtown.
$443,286 to Oklahoma City Public Schools for expansion of the half-day prekindergarten program to a full-day program district wide.
$250,000 to Mount Saint Mary High School for a new cafeteria/commons area and kitchen.
$225,000 to Good Shepherd Catholic School at Mercy to provide specialized one-on-one instruction and treatment to children with autism.
$150,000 to KIPP Reach Academy for general support.
$125,000 to Lighthouse Academies for start-up costs for a Lighthouse Charter School in Oklahoma City.
$100,000 to Building Excellent Schools to provide intensive, full-time training to individuals intent on creating new Oklahoma City charter schools of the highest quality.
$100,000 to Enid Public Schools for an early childhood center, including space renovation, classroom equipment, curriculum and supplies.
$100,000 to Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics Foundation to provide merit-based faculty stipends.
$100,000 to Smart Start Oklahoma for the Innovative Grants program ($90,000) and for general support ($10,000).
$75,000 to Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits for the Standards for Excellence program, providing nonprofits with the tools and knowledge to be more effective.
$60,000 to Cherokee National Historical Society for the Cherokee Humanities course, a college level, Cherokee based curriculum.
$50,000 to Fields and Futures to renovate baseball and softball fields at Capitol Hill High School.
$50,000 to KIPP Tulsa College Preparatory for general support.
$35,000 to Friends of the Oklahoma History Center for education programming including free school group admissions to the Oklahoma History Center.
$30,000 to Parks In Focus Fund to engage youth with nature through photography and outdoor exploration.
Health and Human Services
$500,000 to Variety Care Foundation for expansion of dental care services at Straka Terrace Family Health clinic.
$250,000 to Homeless Alliance to build a 20-unit, single room occupancy complex on the NE corner of WestTown Homeless Resources Campus.
$250,000 to Neighborhood Services Organization for a dental clinic and administrative facility serving low-income Oklahoma City residents.
$150,000 to TEEM, The Education and Employment Ministry to build capacity for successful reintegration of nonviolent offenders into society.
$100,000 to Youth Services for Stephens County for construction of a new shelter.
$50,000 to United Way of Central Oklahoma for the annual campaign.
$50,000 to White Fields for the intensive therapy program, helping boys heal from abuse and trauma.
$25,000 to Be the Change to connect chronically homeless individuals throughout the metro with housing and support services.
$15,000 to Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges to improve the quality of life for persons with physical disabilities through enhanced wellness and recreation.
$15,000 to Dean A. McGee Eye Institute for the Patient Financial Assistance Program, subsidizing ongoing medical costs for patients with limited financial resources.
$15,000 to Tulsa Area United Way for the annual campaign.
$12,000 to Family Promise of Lawton to provide intense case management to families housed in the shelter program and for up to one year after they leave.
Community Enhancement
$50,000 to Wilderness Matters for facility and program improvements at Martin Nature Park to increase accessibility for people with disabilities.
$45,000 to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for the Sacred Heart/Mount St. Mary Summer Academy for low income youth in Oklahoma City’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.
$15,000 to Guthrie Art and Humanities Council for support of Pollard Theatre Company’s 27th season.
Letters of inquiry for the next cycle are due February 15, 2014.
