The Coronavirus Storytelling Project

Inasmuch Foundation is excited to announce The Coronavirus Storytelling Project. In partnership with Oklahoma Watch and The Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame, this project will provide a $500 stipend to five local journalists each week for the next four months.  Furloughed, laid-off, and freelance journalists, as well as struggling community news organizations are eligible to apply.  Selected individuals will produce a first-person narrative, data journalism story, or multi-media piece on either the coronavirus outbreak, challenges faced by journalists during the pandemic, or an issue important to Oklahoma in 2020.  All content will be edited by project manager Mike Sherman, and shared in collaboration with media partners across Oklahoma.

We will have more to share in the weeks to come about Inasmuch Foundation's additional support for Oklahoma's news and information ecosystem.  In the meantime, Program Officer, Tyler Tokarczyk will be reaching out to local journalism organizations to connect, listen, and express appreciation for the essential content they provide to their readers, listeners, and viewers.  Reliable news and information are more important than ever during this historic pandemic and we realize the difficult reality many media organizations face in this moment.
