Inasmuch Foundation and Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation announce combined $2 million grant for disaster relief

OKLAHOMA CITY – Inasmuch Foundation and Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation announced today a combined grant of $2 million to United Way of Central Oklahoma to support tornado relief and recovery efforts in Oklahoma.

“We want to express our deep sorrow for the victims and their families devastated by the May tornadoes,” said Bob Ross, president and CEO of both foundations. “We hope our gift to the United Way’s Disaster Relief Fund will encourage other corporations, foundations and individuals to contribute to the United Way.”

“During her lifetime, our founder Edith Kinney Gaylord quickly responded with financial assistance to natural disasters throughout the world,” said Bill Ross, chairman of the late Ms. Gaylord’s two foundations. “We are honored to continue Edith’s legacy with this gift and know that all Oklahomans will respond as only Oklahomans can, united and working together toward a common goal.”

United Way will distribute funds without administrative fees to United Way partner agencies working on the tornado relief efforts. The fund will serve immediate needs as well as intermediate and long-term care.
