Inasmuch Foundation announces $110,000 in grants

OKLAHOMA CITY – Inasmuch Foundation announced today the distribution of $110,000 in grants to 15 organizations serving Colorado Springs.

Inasmuch Foundation, founded by Edith Kinney Gaylord in 1982, supports education, health and human services and community enhancement initiatives that enrich the quality of life for Oklahomans. The foundation carries on its late founder’s interest in Colorado Springs by giving to nonprofits that are located in and directly serve the residents of the city.

Grants were awarded to organizations for projects addressing the foundation’s areas of interest as follows:

Education

• $10,000 to Community Partnership for Child Development for support services for disadvantaged children enrolled in the Colorado Preschool Program.
• $10,000 to First Tee of Pikes Peak for outreach support.
• $5,000 to Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale for educational outreach.
• $4,000 to Assistance League of Colorado Springs for Operation School Bell, providing new clothing for disadvantaged school-aged children.

Health and Human Services

• $10,000 to Angels of America’s Fallen for youth development activities after loss of a parent.
• $10,000 to National Alliance On Mental Illness-Colorado Springs to expand outreach to minority communities and to middle and high school students.
• $10,000 to Urban Peak Colorado Springs to provide youth who are experiencing homelessness with immediate emergency shelter.
• $7,500 to Special Kids Special Families to support the purchase of Zach’s Place building.
• $5,000 to Catholic Charities of Central Colorado to provide coordinated case management to families in poverty or crisis.
• $5,000 to Energy Resource Center to purchase carbon monoxide detectors for low-income families and seniors in El Paso County.
• $5,000 to Family Promise of Colorado Springs for general support of the family shelter.

Community Enhancement

• $10,000 to Colorado College for the Summer Music Festival.
• $10,000 to Council of Neighbors and Organizations to provide neighborhood education and outreach.
• $5,000 to Opera Theatre of the Rockies for the Vocal Arts Festival and Young Artists Intensive Training Program.
• $3,500 to TwoCor Projects for collaboration with the Fire Department’s Wildfire Mitigation Program to use youth labor for hauling debris.
