Inasmuch Foundation announces $148,234 in awards

OKLAHOMA CITY – Inasmuch Foundation announced today the distribution of $148,234 in grants to 17 organizations serving Colorado Springs.

Edith Kinney Gaylord founded Inasmuch Foundation in 1982 to support charitable, scientific and educational causes that enhance the progress and quality of life for Oklahomans. Today, the foundation is committed to carrying on the interests of its late founder by supporting education, health and human services, and community enhancement.

“We are honored to partner with a very diversified mix of grantees focusing on areas such as homelessness, chamber music, the environment and education, including private and charter schools” said Bob Ross, President and CEO of Inasmuch Foundation. “We focus our grant-making in areas where we believe we can make the most impact.”

Grants were awarded to organizations as follows:

  • $24,000 to University of Colorado for Chancellor’s Leadership Class Scholarships.
  • $21,334 to Colorado Springs School for the REACH summer academic boot camp, an experience of the demands and freedoms of college for at-risk middle school students.
  • $15,000 to Partners in Housing for transitional housing and supporting services for homeless families transitioning from crisis to long-term self-sufficiency.
  • $10,000 to Atlas Preparatory School for after-school character programs in the middle school and program expansion into the new high school.
  • $10,000 to Chamber Orchestra of the Springs for the Maestro’s Fund for new initiatives as promoted by the music director.
  • $10,000 to Grace and St. Stephens Episcopal Church for restoration of their historic Welte pipe organ.
  • $10,000 to Palmer Land Trust to protect large land parcels along the Colorado Springs Front Range to establish permanent buffers between residents and the National Forest.
  • $7,500 to Opera Theatre of the Rockies for the 2013 Vocal Arts Festival and Young Artists Intensive Training Program.
  • $5,000 to Care & Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado to ensure that children have access to food when school food is not available.
  • $5,000 to Colorado Springs Teen Court for programs using the positive power of peer influence to stop criminal behavior at its earliest stage.
  • $5,000 to Community Partnership for Child Development for comprehensive support services for disadvantaged children enrolled in the Colorado Preschool Program.
  • $5,000 to Kids on Bikes for expansion to Deerfield Hills Community Center of the Let’s Pedal program for disadvantaged 3rd-5th graders.
  • $5,000 to Open Bible Baptist Church for TLC pharmacy for free services, medical supplies and medications for low income patients.
  • $4,900 to Kids In Need of Dentistry for a new autoclave for the Colorado Springs clinic.
  • $4,000 to Assistance League of Colorado Springs to provide new clothing to needy children in El Paso County public schools.
  • $4,000 to Court Care for the Pikes Peak Region for free childcare services for low-income families and crime victims who have court-related business.
  • $2,500 to TwoCor Projects to develop a comprehensive reporting system that combines performance at school with the work program.
