Inasmuch Foundation announces $201,600 in awards

OKLAHOMA CITY – Inasmuch Foundation announced today the distribution of $201,600 in grants to 15 organizations in the Colorado Springs area.

Inasmuch Foundation, founded by Edith Kinney Gaylord in 1982, supports education, health and human services and community enhancement initiatives that enrich the quality of life for Oklahomans. The foundation carries on its late founder’s interest in Colorado Springs by giving to nonprofits that are located in and directly serve the residents of the city.

“I am always amazed at the diversity of the applications we receive and this grant cycle was no exception” said Bob Ross, President and CEO of Inasmuch Foundation.  “We are proud to offer our support to organizations providing unique services but together are making the Colorado Springs area a better place to live.”

Grants were awarded to organizations as follows:

• $100,000 to Colorado College to build capacity for advancement operations.
• $20,000 to CASA of the Pikes Peak Region to build capacity for the Peer Coordinator model.
• $15,000 to Life Skills Fore the Youth of Colorado Springs for First Tee of Pikes Peak to deliver curriculum focused on life skills and core values.
• $10,000 to Chamber Orchestra of the Springs for the Maestro’s Fund, supporting initiatives promoted by the music director.
• $9,000 to Urban Peak Colorado Springs to meet the needs of youth experiencing homelessness.
• $8,500 to Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity for energy-efficient upgrades for two houses.
• $7,500 to Community Partnership for Child Development for support services for disadvantaged children enrolled in the Colorado Preschool Program.
• $5,000 to Ecumenical Social Ministries for mental health counseling for low-income and homeless individuals living in Colorado Springs.
• $5,000 to Interfaith Hospitality Network of Colorado to help families with children in homeless situations.
• $5,000 to Opera Theatre of the Rockies for the Vocal Arts Festival and Young Artists Intensive Training Program.
• $4,000 to Assistance League of Colorado Springs for Operation School Bell, providing new clothing for disadvantaged school-aged children.
• $4,000 to Catamount Institute for Young Environmental Stewards Club and Field Trips, helping students understand various impacts on habitats, spaces and ecosystems.
• $4,000 to Colorado Springs Teen Court for the Restorative Justice Sentencing Program and the Youth Volunteer Corps.
• $3,100 to Historic Manitou Springs for the History Pockets Project, using hands-on artifacts to engage children in the history of Manitou Springs.
• $1,500 to Cheyenne Mountain Public Broadcast House for the Classics for Kids Outreach Program and the Spring Membership Drive Matching Challenge.
