Inasmuch Foundation announces $2.4 million in grants

OKLAHOMA CITY – Inasmuch Foundation announced today the distribution of $2.4 million in grants to 25 organizations serving Oklahoma communities.

Inasmuch Foundation, founded by Edith Kinney Gaylord in 1982, supports education, health and human services and community enhancement initiatives that enrich the quality of life for Oklahomans.

“Inasmuch Foundation is excited to partner with The Education and Employment Ministry (TEEM) on their capital campaign,” said Bob Ross, President and CEO of Inasmuch Foundation.   “It’s exciting to see TEEM, Sunbeam Family Services, Catholic Charities, St. Anthony’s and the increasing number of service agencies that make up the Corridor of Hope on Classen Boulevard.”

Grants were awarded to organizations for projects addressing the foundation’s areas of interest as follows:

Education

• $250,000 to Oklahoma State University for the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts Capital Campaign.
• $150,000 to KIPP Reach Academy for general support.
• $150,000 to Oklahoma City Public Schools for the Urban Schools Human Capital Academy, an initiative in human resources reform that addresses issues such as recruitment, retention, professional development, and principal and teacher quality.
• $100,000 to Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics to provide merit-based faculty stipends.
• $100,000 to University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma to assist students on the Autism Spectrum as they transition to college.
• $25,000 to El Sistema Oklahoma for an ensemble-based after school music program.
• $25,000 to Tulsa Legacy Charter School for general support.
• $15,000 to deadCENTER Film Festival for an education program that offers free film seminars and classes to schools throughout Oklahoma and free Fall Break Camps to metro area students.

Health and Human Services

• $500,000 to NewView Oklahoma for the Capital Campaign to renovate a building for the Low Vision Rehabilitation Program.
• $150,000 to Rainbow Fleet for expansion of innovative early childhood development programs and services to enhance the quality of care for children in child care home settings in Oklahoma County.
• $100,000 to McCall’s Chapel School for construction of an Activity/Adult Day Care Center.
• $100,000 to Mental Health Association Oklahoma for general support of operations in Oklahoma City.
• $50,000 to Oklahoma Conference of Churches for general support.
• $45,000 to Special Care in general support of high-quality early childhood education and services for children with and without disabilities.
• $35,000 to A Chance to Change Foundation for an in-school program that helps at-risk teens and for an education series on addiction.
• $30,000 to Teen Recovery Solutions for Mission Academy, a recovery-based high school.
• $25,000 to McClain-Garvin Youth & Family Center to provide in-home parent education and services.
• $25,000 to Youth & Family Services to provide community-based assistance to children and youth in central and west central Oklahoma.
• $15,000 to Health Alliance for the Uninsured to provide connections to health resources that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Community Enhancement

• $350,000 to TEEM The Education and Employment Ministry for general support and capital improvements to their headquarters building.
• $50,000 to Progress OKC for restoration of the Page Woodson school auditorium in Northeast Oklahoma City to be used as a performing arts venue and gathering space for the surrounding community.
• $35,000 to Friends of the Oklahoma History Center for free school group admissions.
• $25,000 to Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits for the Standards for Excellence program and other training, consultation and capacity building projects.
• $25,000 to Tulsa Community Foundation for 501technet program expansion, providing subsidized information technology products and services to nonprofits in Oklahoma City.
• $22,500 to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for the Sacred Heart/Mount St. Mary Summer Academy for low income youth in Oklahoma City’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.
